So I sold my C6 yesterday. It was a great car, quick, a lot of fun, very comfy, and looked fantastic sitting in my driveway. I just wasn’t driving it a lot this year, and having the payment and insurance for the few miles I was doing just wasn’t smart. I drove it a lot last year, and fully got to enjoy it, so I’m not sad to see it go.
Another part of the reason is my girlfriend (and future fiance) needs a newer car. She drives a 2000 Accord w/ 150k miles, and it’s just worn out - with rust, many dents, and so on. My plan is to get her something used for around $10k, and get myself something fun for $15kish.
At the top of my list is a FiST, but they seem to be not in that range yet - or maybe I was looking for ones with lower mileage and they didn’t show up. Also interested in the Fiat 500 Abarth, but would definitely prefer a FiST since they’re 4 door.
I’ve had Miatas (an NA, 2 NBs and an NC) and am not interested in getting another one.
If I didn’t love that woman, I’d be getting a new WRX, but I think she’s worth it :)

Is the $15k for an only car daily driver, or is this a second/weekend car?

I told you Miata is not the answer!
$15k could get you a decent used WRX, since that’s on your list. The FR-S/BRZ came out in 2013, and though they’ve depreciated a bit they’re probably not in your price range yet unless they have a lot of miles. Plus, going to one after a C6, you’re really going to miss the power, I think.
A Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost with better tires and suspension could be a real hoot, but again, I think it’s too new to have come down to your price range. And again, the power thing.

Probably the only car - my DD w/ the vette is the 2009 Accent i currently have, and I’d prefer something to enjoy on a daily basis

Nah, I did think of that, but I only want to have one car.

I can probably get past the power deficit if it’s fun to drive - I would go from the vette to my ‘09 Accent sometimes, and that was the hardest thing to do lol.
most of the older WRXs I’ve seen have high mileage, and I’d like to keep it under 60k miles really since I plan on keeping this car for a while.

Those could be fun - I had a Mk4 GTI w/ the 1.8T - great car except for the electrical issues I had, likely due to the previous owner tho. I didn’t even think of a GTI, which was dumb.

I sold my C6 a few weeks ago, too. I had that and a 2007 C Class as my daily driver. I used some of the Corvette money to buy a low-mileage S2000, and now I’m selling my C class (for less than 10K if you’re interested) because the Honda is a perfectly fine daily driver, as well.

I have a Mk6 Jetta Sportwagen, which kind of makes me biased towards VWs, and the Mk6s don’t seem to have all of the issues of the previous generations. I would say get one with a manual rather than DSG though

11-13 v6 mustang would be fun and has enough power, should be able to find some in your price range

Ya I would definitely get a stick regardless of the car I buy.

They’re in that range. You find a decent used one and have a sizable down payment I’m sure the dealer will acquiesce to your wishes. A car sitting is a car not making money.

I doubt I could find one near $15k, unless it’s a V6

BMW maybe? Plenty of sports sedans to choose from.
Any regrets with the C6? Reason I ask is because it is on my short list, along with the Cayman and 996 911.

No regrets at all - it was a 2006 daytona orange (non-Z51) w/ the black 3LT interior and a 6 spd. Took it on a 2000 mile road trip last year, was getting 28-29mpg on the long highway stretches w/ one tank just breaking 30 while cruising at mostly 75-80. Stock brakes were a lot better than I thought, and way better than anything else I’ve had by far.
I’ll have to check out some BMWs. There’s a dealer w/ a ‘02 or ‘03 M3 for $12k near me - only thing is it has 215k miles.
